Took this bad boy out of the closet for a hike. I shot this picture of a spider. It would've never been possible without this lens.

Its my least used lens, but with its IQ, size, and price, its a keeper.

What would be the purpose of someone (with a crop sensor) buying any of the 50mm lenses when this would served two purposes: portrait and macro?

Of all the lenses I've researched, I don't think I've ever seen one get such consistently high reviews. I can't think of any other lens that surpasses this (in terms of five stars on every site).

Thank you. bw!

Well the only point would be to take advantage of the larger apertures e.g. the 50mm 1.8 and the 50mm 1.4.
I have this lens but I've also considered getting the 50mm 1.4.

Every shot I take with this lens requires very little sharpening or noise reduction in Lightroom apart from the default settings.

It just works!

This was the first lens I got (after the kit lens) and I used it as my walk around lens for 6 months before I got the Sigma 30 mm. Worked great!

Exactly. with my previous 50 f/1.8, I was always a little disappointed with a little softness and blurryness when I shot anything lower than f/2.8. I would only use it for low light, but I found it not good enough for me to use.

with the 60mm Macro, it has the awesome macro capabilities and its sharp from 2.8 and on!

Yeah there's never anything for me to do in PP after shooting with this lens. Great colour, sharpness, contrast, everything.

It's like The Fonz looking at himself in the mirror in Happy Days. He gets his comb out but his hair is perfect so he just says "Eyyy".
