Just realised this is my 2,000th post!! blimey, I must get out more :-)

Anyway, decided to post this image I shot last week near Wimborne St Giles, Dorset (England).

This gateway just attracted my lens...

I did have a play in PS to 'liven' it up a bit, I may have done too much though :-)

Canon 20D, 24-105L IS @24mm, ISO400(!) 1/20th sec @ f6.7 (Handheld)

It was quite dark in these woods and I had no tripod, so hence the high(ish) ISO and the large(ish) aperture - The IS on the 24-105L came in handy that day!

I really like it, would be interested to know how you post processed it as i have a shot that would probably suit this treatment.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I did normal levels & WB adjustment/correction in C1, converted to 16bit TIFF then used the 'Midnight Black' action in PS for this. It just seemed to 'lift' the original and I was quite pleased with the result.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I had gone too far with the effect.

Thank you Athena - I didn't actually see any fairies whilst I was walking around the wood, but I'm sure they were there somewhere looking at me :-)

Nice shot Kevin and the PP suits it well. I was wrong, my first guess when I saw it was Midnight Gold. I love all of the midnight actions.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Nice shot! I don't think you went too far with the PP - it looks great to me.

Thanks Greg - They are similar, I sometimes use the Midnight Sepia action but found a few more, including the Midnight Black and thought I'd give it a go on this image, although as I said earlier I did tone-down the saturation a bit because the default value was far too high for this shot.

Thank you dsc_1972 - I wasn't sure if I had done too much, but I think the subject suited it, so I got away with it :-)
