eos 400d warranty

Hi I recently purchased a canon 400d from ebay and when it arrived the warranty card was not stamped with the supplier details date purchased etc..I contacted the seller but he isn't the one to supply them to us. He has a supplier in France that sends the cameras direct to the uk customer.That rang alarm bells because I wondered if the warranty even if it was stamped would be valid because it is from France?
I was wondering if anyone else has purchased this camera and doesn't have the warranty card stamped?
I have got a receipt but I'm a bit worried about it being ebay and all!!!
I have the option of sending it back within 30 days if not happy with the product.
Any advice would be appreciated. It is truly a lovely camera and I'm wondering whether I should risk it and start snapping!!?

Sounds gray market to me--warranty NOT valid, more than likely. Call Canon to see if this is an authorized dealer. If not, no warranty.

Another reason NOT to purchase stuff on ebay.

hi, i bought a 400d body at the local camera shop, but my lenses are all off ebay. figured there's less to go wrong with glass than electronics. on the plus side, it's a canon, so what could go wrong????

Might be best to just return it and buy it from a store instead. If you're in the UK then Amazon are currently selling them the cheapest from what I could find.
