Purchasing First Camera

I am purchasing my first camera in the range of $1,500. I'm interested in taking pictures of people (fully clothed, nude, and in motion). What type of camera should I consider buying? There are so many options that I'm overwhelmed.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Rebel XTi would be fine for starters, along with a nice lens, but a 30D is also a very nice camera.

Go into a store and hold the different models. The Canon Rebel cameras are great...but they are light and small...I prefer the bigger heavier models myself...but you may not.

$1500 total for all gear to start with, or just the camera body?
the XTi would be fine for you, but the 30D would be better.

This would imply doing studio work yes?
Then having a camera with a PC Sync to trip the lights would be handy, which means a used 10D, 20D or new 30D.

So long and thanks for all the flash

All are capable of doing those kind of stuff from XT, XTI, 1OD, 2OD, and 3OD. it all goes down to the lens... for $1500 I would suggest getting the 3OD and canon 50mm f/1.8, you still have change in your pocket ;)

I second that, 30D can't be beaten with 400D, and 50 1.8 is something else, go for it.

I completely agree. 30D and 50mm f/1.8 are a great combination and will do a lot for you while you figure out what else you want to do or if you have other lens needs.

For the scenarios mentioned, I bet all camera including the Drebel and Xt (the lowest end Canon DSLRs) can manage it. Without a note on whether the $1500 is only for the body or for the setup, its difficult to recommend one.
