A couple of climbing photos from Stanage (in the peak district) from earlier this year.

A bit of a grab shot. I was taking (not very good) pictures of my friends climbing when I turned round and saw this chap :)

This is insane, 2nd one is good. I wish I had the balls to do this kind of thing ( climbing with no safety rope.

Climbing without a rope is easy when you are young and stupid.
As the years go by the question 'What if?' pops into ones head more often and eventually the soloing stops.
Or at least thats what happened to me.
Thats when I bought a camera

Nice shots. Makes me want to watch Hard Grit again! (a climbing documentary). I never had the courage to solo anything like that, but I started climbing pretty late on in life (at 28!) and the self preservation had kicked in too much by then!

I almost died just looking at those photos. Not sure how those guys do that.

I like the second shot, as it gives you the perspective that he is really in a perilous position. The first shot is nice, but seeing the mat below, and the size of the rock face takes away from the "story." I bet there are some great angles you can get which will really construct some fabulous images.

Hi Liam
Think Stanage is a lot of peoples favorite place, judging by the amount of cars there today!
I've been climbing for about ten years now. Long enough to remember doing NTBA without boulder mats. It may look small in the photo but I can tell you its definitely high enough when you are up their

Great shots - takes me back more years ago than I care to remember, suffice to say many decades when I last climbed at Stanage Edge and suffered the infamous Stanage rash - that gritstone is murder on the hands.

I recall it as a challenging area for such short pitches requiring the sort of arm strength I wish I still had.

Thanks for sharing these :)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p
