I saw the 300D today. They have a 10D for $500, another $160 or so gets you a 50 f1.8.

The 10 is no prize, but it DOES do raw, which the 300 does not do. Or wait till he gets another 1DII ;)

300D does RAW. None of Canon's DSLRs will shoot RAW in the "Basic Zone" (pictures) settings, only in the "Creative Zone"" (letters).

Actually the 300D will shoot RAW in the sports mode with the undutchables hack. Possibly in all modes but I don't have a 300D to try it out on anymore.
