I FINALLY got to see my boss' flat on Wed. We've talked about me renting it from him. After various postponing (weeks), he was gonna give it to his wife's friends, but now it's available again.

After further postponing I finally got to see it. And today I told him I'll take it. :D

He'll be sub-letting to me without permission from the landlord, but hopefully nobody will notice/care.

We'll have to fix a written agreement & go through the place for written inventory. That'll prob not be until closer to moving in.

If things go as planned (i.e. he won't change his mind, or I'll be furious), then I'll probably move in when he moves out end of Jan-07.

I'm trying to keep my cool, but I'm excited...:D

An illicit sub-let from the boss? This is a situation that sounds as though it could be very problematic in the future.

Pete,
I actually liked it the way it is (only did see it for 20mins though). Probably won't bother painting anything. Besides, paint costs & I need the cash for kitchen supplies, bedroom stuff, book shelves etc etc.

I have to agree with Rhys. It's always best to keep home and work lives separate, IMO. Otherwise a problem in one becomes a problem in the other, magnifies from constant tension, and could explode into A Real Situation.

Well, I'll keep looking for a 1st hand contract. It's very hard to get over here and this allows me to finally move out from my parents' house.

As for keeping work & private separately, yeah, that's generally a good thing, but heck, I already went to the movies with two colleagues & play flipper with them & they're old mates since 7y/o. I also talk a lot with the Project Manager about work & private stuff (to an extent) & we go shopping/gym together. Our Sales Director hires the layout guys to help with his other firm off work.

Did I mention I got a shoulder massage from the PM & one layout guy yesterday?

Claire, that's great news!!! How big is it? Where is it? Any chance he'd give up his contract and give it to you?

We are only 9 in the office. It's inevitable some of us will get along extra well. The PM & I hit it off within one day. Very good as we work so close & she has become my mentor. The layout guys A & J are old mates & my age. We get along as well & will joke around etc. Of course we all work hard, but that's why we need to crack jokes, play pranks etc now & then. Keep spirits up. :)

Oh, & I had a shoulder/neck problem yesterday. J gave a bit massage, then PM as she's licensed masseus as well. :) The company's too poor/stingy to pay for fun health stuff etc, so we gotta fix ourselves.

The original plan was that we'd try to talk the landlord into letting me get the place after him. Then it seemed not very big chance of that happening :( so that's why this route. I'll still hand in an application though, you never know if something might come up.

It's a two room place smack center in Gothenburg. :D 13-15mins walking distance from work. The ceiling is pretty high as it's an old house. Fairly broad hallway with 6 fixed closets, not that big bedroom (fitted only a double bed & book shelf), surprisingly spacious kitchen, tiny bathroom, nicely sized living room. The windows are high & big. Hopefully the living room windows will be nice for shooting in the room. ;)

Oh, that sounds fun! When would that be? I am not sure exactly when I'll be moving in & it'll probably take some time to get settled. I most likely won't have much furniture either...hehe. But I should be able to squeeze in visitors in the living room, but no clue what they'd sleep on...

We'll keep in touch & see, but I'd love to join the shooting. :) Are you all planning a regular walk & shoot whatever, or do you intend to get hold of models to shoot?
