It wouldn't be sporting to shoot them while they're on the ground feeding. Always give them a chance to fly.

However when photographing geese/ducks that are relatively tame (they live in a park in the city year round), they don't often fly, but just swim past.

Sorry my post didn't take..........Getting them to fly is easy...just go past where they are swimming by a ways then chum with bread crums, crackers or the sort...and be ready for fast action as they fly to you and land......burst mode, tv, Ai servo.....lots of fun, lots of dogs...hard to catch in flight but will definately sharpen your hand eye coordination and ability to aquire and capture on the move.....
