I think people put more thought into purchasing a DSLR than into purchasing a cell phone though.

I just wanted to show the fact that there are an absolute ton of canon users out there. I was quite surprised, I expected to see a more fair share of the market between canon and nikon. Thats all.

Canon has pretty much mastered the fact of mass producing the Rebel as the consumer 35mm camera, the fact that the Rebel in digital form carries this on, isn't such a surprise to me.

What I do find interesting is that the next cheapest (cheaper) camera the D50 is gaining ground in the same way as the Rebel. I think Nikon simply can't mfg. as fast as Canon, I think the 18-200mm VR is another good example of this.

Again the D40 should be very scary to Canon...
