Just channel hoping and came across an auction TV station. They were selling an "amazing" Vivitar digital camera. The claims they made for the camera were;

1. It was 8 mega pixels "you only get that on professional cameras usually"
2. The 3x optical and 2x digital zoom "give the sort of range you can't get on any other small camera"
3. Vivitar is the most popular camera brand in the US.

The best though was when the guy was talking through the functions.

There is automatic mode - "automatically zooms for you"
Movie mode - "you can make you own films" (what with the free 8mb SD card?)
AV mode - for when you attach the camera to you video. :D
TV mode - for showing pictures on your TV. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Would this be taking money by deception?

AV mode.. of course.. audio/visual...
TV mode.. makes perfect sense.. for hooking to your tv... LOL

I don't think most people know what AV and TV modes are.. I never knew until i started looking at higher end cameras...

Buyers beware is one thing, trying to sell you one then when it clearly isn't is another.

The shopping stations do this all the time with telescopes...

"See Saturn as big as the moon!"
(You don't have a backyard big enough
to hold the telescope that will let you see
that!)

"This telescope has over 625x!!!!"
(You NEVER market a telescope by
it's "power"...always by aperture....
The 'norm' is around 200x anyway :) )

"Rock solid tripod!"
(You put a marshmellow on this thing
and it bends...)

Et al and yadda yadda yadda....

I'm sure if some attorney took the time, he/she might get these people to advertise right.

In the mean time, the best one can do is keep your friends informed.....and give the finger to the TV a lot.....
