Driving home this evening, the warm glow of the Autumn Sun was casting long shadows across the fields. I came around the corner and this beacon of bright red and silver just beckoned my camera to take a picture.

The Canadian farmer is a dying breed, with many crumbling into oblivion. Property developers come along with a large financial handshake... and another sub-division is born.

For now, this well kept and spectacularly maintained example is indeed a rare photo opportunity.

Near Belmont, SE of London, Ontario Canada.

Canon 300D with kit lens, no grads, no fancy stuff, just shot from the side of the road.

There's something about farm pictures that I love. Awesome lighting here too, good thing you had your camera!

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

The low light really brings out the colors and produces a few shadows, nice looking shot.

Martin:

That shot evokes some considerable nostalgia. Although I've lived in BC for sixteen years, the previous (whole bunch) were spent in SK. True your pic is of an Ontario farm, but it could have been taken almost anywhere in SK (not all of SK is that flat though).

My dad was the only one of five siblings that wasn't a farmer or married to one, so the rural connection is very strong in me.

A perfect shot that captures the serenity of farm life so well. Thanks.

Quite different from the farmhouses of your native Scotland, but beautiful nontheless, and the low light makes this image, a touch of sky noise, but no big deal.

No snow yet Cuzz ?

My family in Kincardine Ontario have left for Florida to miss the bad weather, with this shot it looks like they've left a bit early.
