Selling 1Ds Mark II for 2 1D Mark II N's

I am seriously considering the above scenario. I sold my backup 20D and really need pro body backup. I am budgeting myself on this though.

Am I cursing myself for backpedalling from 16.7 mp to 8.2 mp

I jumped from the 20D to the 1Ds Mark II and never used the 1D mark IIN.

I am basically trying to figure out what is more important; more megapixels or more speed.

Every so often I take a shot and am glad I have the MP to supersize the image but even more often to I find myself missing a key frame that could have been obtained with more FPS.

You're getting half the MP. Are you ok with that? How big do you usually print? Do you find yourself cropping a lot? Would your current lens collection still satisfy you with a 1.3x crop instead of FF? What about a 1DMkIIN and a 5D? (and something else, probably)

1DIIN and 5D would seem to be a superior combo than two 1DIIN's unless you really need the speed on two bodies - that way you can have the bigger megapixels when you need it and you have speed readily available.

This is coming from someone who hasn't owned any of the above, mind you, so take it for what it's worth - it's just what would makes sense to me :)

Keep the 1Ds MKII and get a 1D MKIIN, now they are a perfect match:D

How about a 1Ds and a 1DMkIIN? If you're stuck on owning a 1-series that would give you a bit higher mp and FF when you want; speed when you don't.

I think as long as the glass is primes then alright you will probably feel okay.

I am currently after a 1D mark IIN but I also want a 1Ds mark II after it (or whatever replaces it) I personally could probably not go from 16.7 to 8.2 if I printed my work or appreciated the quality.

I'd trade my 1Ds with 7K clicks and my 1DmkIIn with under 6K clicks for a 1DsmkII but only if it had less than 10K clicks.

It really stinks that Nikon chose to do this with one pro body while Canon forces us to choose, or buy two bodies. The D2X can shoot full frame at I think 5fps, and has an option to turn on a crop mode which raises the frame rate to 8fps. It sounds to me like that is what you are looking for, although I'm not recommending a switch to Noink of course. I had hoped by now Canon would have introduced the same option, which could pretty easily be done in firmware.

The D2x is never full frame (don't know if you meant that way). It's a 1.5x body (Just like all N****s) at 5fps, and a 2x at 8fps.

Except that the Nikon D2Xs suprasses the 1D-N in resolution, it Rivals Canon's 5D, that's not too shabby. And it's built like a brick too!

I shoot fast action sports but also shoot high end portraits and interior real estate. This is where I love the 1Ds Mark II

I would also need to sell the 1Ds Mark II for $6000+ to have the swap make sense. After reviewing recent sales, I don't know if the market is there.

I may just go ahead and get the 1D Mark IIN in addition.

AAAAAHHHHHH... does it ever end!

If you are looking on just adding a 1D Mark II N to your line up, it might be worth it to wait to see if Canon releases an updated version next year.

Well, here is the kicker.

I have been hired to travel to Indonesia for a 12 day surf trip in February and need a second body by then.

My gut is telling me that the 1Ds Mark II and 1D MarkIIN would be the perfect match for that trip. High action and high quality.
