Got floaters here. Annoying in the blue sky and other solid surfaces. Sometimes looking at a nice fancy pattern is a refreshing beak from seeing them.

It defiately isnt just long and short sighted people - i have astigmatism but otherwise good vision and i have a floater in my right eye.

It seems to only appear when im concentrating, like taking a photo (or maybe i only notice it then).

Oh and its not age related either - im 36 and had it for at least 10 years!

I have had floaters as far back as I can remember. They are not nearly as entertaining as the colorful light patterns I see in semi darkness. There is even a pattern that looks like a solar system and nebula if I keep my eyes still for a long time. I've never seen an explanation of that one....

HAHAHAHA
just scanning this resurrected thread and read
"I have had floaters as far back as I can remember. They are not nearly as entertaining as the colorful light patterns I see in semi darkness. There is even a pattern that looks like a solar system and nebula if I keep my eyes still for a long time. I've never seen an explanation of that one...."
and thought "Wow, me too!" then noticed who posted it.

Floaters in the eyes is the biological equivalent of dust on your sensor. :)

And a Lenspen works for both :)

Health warning; never try this at home. Consult your doctor first.

Right, and the first thing does not involve floaters....well maybe....

I wish I could just map the floaters and edit them out but the little guys seem to be doing the backstroke.

There seems to be some confusion as to what floaters are. This link explains it pretty well.
http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/spotsfloats.htm (external link)
They are not on the surface of the eye, they are shadows of stuff that is floating around in the fluid in the eye.
I first really took notice of them while swimming in an outdoor pool, with white bottoms and sides, with googles on. As I move my head around, the floaters will move about my field of vision with motion that you would expect a piece of debris that is floating to have, e.g., if I jerk my head to the right, the floater will continue to move to the right (with momentum) after my head has stopped, then it will come to a stop.

Most of the time I don't notice them, but occasionally, they are annoying.

Another interesting tidbit about floaters.. For men, an increase in the number of floaters can be a side effect of too much m12 (that is a twelve letter word that begins with m).

Maybe you should send an urgent PM to all the posters that claim to have floaters!

Too late. I just went back through the thread. All of the comments from people that have had them have been deleted or edited to read: "Never heard of that, what's a floater?" :)
