That's a great picture Ricky. :)

What were the setting you used in Photomatix?

Hi to you to rickydiver...

Thanks for sharing the picture and generating a pleasant memory...

Here is some personal info on the site:
You pictured just the place where I was born and lived my first 9 years of my life...
St. Mary's Church is the original "Big" Church in Krakow that Pope John Paul II, called home...just to the left of the front of the church is Florianska Street...It's a medieval street dating back to 1300's, and is just 100 meters or so long...the Main Gate to the Old Krakow is on the other end of the very short block...
St. Florian Church is around the corner, right there, and it is where Pope John Paul II served as a priest in 1951... I was christened in that Church, but by another Priest. My parent's owned two retail boutique businesses on the street corner of Florianska...and my Aunt and cousin's still live right there, by the Church...There is a National Museum right there too and it features an original Leonardo Da Vinci painting...

I'd love to work a picture like this onto a canvas and frame it...after all, it is part of world history, even more so, now that the past Pope is from right there...

This is quite a surprise for me...

Again, thanks for sharing your travel photo...

John

Thanks Pilot1962 or your kind words ;)
Sorry Raindancer but good luck experimenting with the software.
Johnstoy thank you very much for giving me so much information on the church, I had no idea of its history :) I am ashamed to say we did not even go into the church, something I know regret :( We did visit many more churches in Kracow and they were stunning to say the least :) The small street you refer too, we walked up every day as our hotel was only 5mins in that direction. I actually proposed to my other half in the square beside St. Mary's church so the church will always be special to us :)
Thanks again John and I have also posted up a shot of the Barbican in here last week. Do you have any history on that?
Cheers Ricky

Hey, Say Ricky,
How are you...

There are only so many things you can see at one time, when vacationing...I checked with my older sister to make certain I get the correct Polish spelling of Barbakan...I'll write more about it in that thread...

When you walked down to the end of Florianska, you would walk through the Old Gate to the city...The street corner on the right side is where our stores were, and my Aunt and Cousin live...It is now a National Historic building...

I'm glad you enjoyed the visit...and It's my pleasure to be able to write a little about the Market Square area, here in your thread....

John

Wow. I really like this picture. would anyone care to possibly link us beginners to an HDR explanation?

Thanks, and once again, nice work.

Since the people are moving I'd be inclined to think this is a single image merged to render the exposure.

Either way it looks very pleasing.

Bluedog! You old diplomat you!! Quite a sneaky way to say that single raws creating multiple exposures ain't hdr... they're blends.

On the other hand, I also think it has merit. When I first saw it, my first impression was something you would have seen on the cover of an old Saturday Evening Post... it has that "look." /Dan

I've yet to figure out how to do a multi exposure HDR of a moving subject (other than water, of course).

My love is landscapes and that's the essence of the HDR problem. No matter how fast you bracket multiple exposures to create an hdr, there is always going to be some sort of movement. Light breeze, leaves on trees, blades of grass, the sun setting, clouds moving, etc. I try to keep large objects out of the foreground. Leaves on distant trees show less motion because of their size. One thing I also do is bracket manually and wait. I'll take a shot, reset the exposure, then stand there with remote in hand and wait until the breeze quits for just a second then snap another shot. When shooting and waiting I focus more on larger objects in the foreground and wait until they stop moving, disregarding the movement of things far off. It takes patience. On the other hand, sometimes tiny movements of flora and fauna creates interesting effects. /Dan
