A530 has all the dummy modes plus full manual, the next step up is A540 that includes AV/TV, a larget screen and is compatable with a lens adapter so she could later take advantage of different filters and lens converters. 60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

I would like a little growth to it. Something that has good IQ that will not be disappointing to her. Her Grandmother (my Mom) has a camera in her hand all the time as do I. So this is a hobbie I hope she picks up and maybe makes more of one day. If it is something that she likes and grows with then when I upgrade my body I will hand her my XT to grow with a little further. Where she can save some allowance and buy some glass of her own. At least that is what I am hoping for. I am about putting forth the carrots and adding fertilizer but not pushing hard. The Site

I used one for a couple of years and it's a great little camera. Oh it also used sd and cf memory Just another shutterbug.
