I have exactly the same ebay flash trigger system. It was sold and described that it worked with all Canon flash units. It didn't work with mine and I could not get my money back out of paypal so I went through my bank and got refunded. The same shark that sold me the mis-described/faulty system also kept giving vacant promises that he'd supply the remote release that I'd paid for. That never ever arrived either. Got a refund for that too - via the bank (paypal didn't want to know).

And you've been bawling like a baby about it for the past three months .. give it a rest man.

Hardly - I only got scammed about a month ago with it.

I have that same unit, it doesn't work with any Canon flashes that I've tried.
Canon flashes are finicky with anything other than their own IR system apparently.

The only canon flashs that I have are 2 580EX and they work fine with these things. I only have used them on manual but they work fine that way. They also work fine with the sigma 500 DG super.

I bought a cactus v2 off ebay recently, and have not used it extensively, but the prices have dropped quite a bit. $25 bux shipped; not a bad deal, and if I get what I paid for, then no big deal :)

Did you put fresh batteries in it? The batteries it ships with are often discharged.

Hi Curtis and company,
I have a XTI and 430ex, and currently use the V2s trigger/receiver kits. I am planning getting one or two sunpak 383, which I believe need the V2 receiver
Does the Cactus trigger for V2s trigger the V2 receiver?

Thanks.

Keith

Maybe make that are **always discharged.

I sent more on batteries than for them than on the entire set.

Also they come with a near invisible cling film protector.

Of the four I have, supposedly Canon dedicated, all four will fire a Canon flash. Three will fire Canon, Nikon and Sigma flashes.

Yes I can confirm that the V2s trigger can trigger V2 receiver from what I've read. I'll try to find it for you...

I just got mine today and it works with my 580EX II after changing the channel to channel 1.

Can you please show us some pictures of your mod, and if possible a guide?

Thank you

I was about 100ft away from the flash and it syncs upto 1/200 sec.

I honestly love my trigger/receiver set. I haven't had a single misfire yet. The only trouble I have had with them (in the month I've had them) occurred last night when I was doing a shoot at a skatepark with another photographer shooting in a different part using the same setup. On two of the three free channels, the receiver wouldn't trigger. Then I connected to his and mine wouldn't trigger but his would (its funny, kids were talking to him like "DUDE WTF IS GOING ON WITH YOUR FLASH"--good thing I was nonchalant about it and nobody noticed me hehe), and then on my last channel I got lucky and mine triggered fine. That was the only difficulty I've had. One thing I suggest is use PC cables or PC-to-Hotshoe to trigger your flash. I don't feel comfortable with my $90 Vivitar 285HV sitting on top of something plastic and flimsy, although my tripod did get knocked down and nothing was damaged. I ordered a general brand PC to Hotshoe off of B&H that broke the first 2 minutes it was out of the box, so I cut the cable off, superglued the body back together, and simply used it as an adaptor for my tripod, and then used the sync cable provided by Vivitar connected to my PT-04 which is velcroed to the side of my 285.

Will modding (adding an antenna) increase the sync speed?

I have a Cactus transmitter and 3 V2s receivers that they work very well with my 2 Sunpak 383 and 1 Canon 420ex. However, when I use that set up along with a wirless shutter release, I could not get the flash to fire. It is funny that once in a while it will work (guess around 5% of the time). For the time that it works, the delay is pretty significant where I have to use shutter speed slower than 1/8 sec otherwise the flash will come on after the shutter has already been closed. I only tried 2 different channels in the shutter release cos I thought it may have to do with signal interference, no luck so far. Did not have time to try all 16 channels in the shutter release yet. Anyone having the same issue?
