no idea, never had a Pentax in my life... I love the camera, but am not sure for value of that lense...

My recommendation is go for a 30D; you should be able to get one in your budget I think. Lenses depend on what type of photography you want to do.

Personally I'm not keen on the mechanical linkages pentax use between lens and body. Makes for slower AF in my opinion and surely must run batteries down faster...?

Possible, but if the OP will be shooting his/her praktica lenses, AF wont matter one bit.

The allure of the K10D is with the 11pt AF, weathersealing, and in-body image stablization/antishake/whatever you want to call it. I suppose it's only matters if you use Pentax AF glass.

However, one of the plusses of the K10D is the nice big bright viewfinder. Actually, most of the Pentax bodies do have that... maybe pick up a used K100D or K110D instead...

I'm going to regret this.

Sissi, from what I see of your work. The most important suggestion I can make is "it's about the glass". I would recommend that you look at a used body (10D,20D) and a great lens like the 17-40 f4L. See if you can get them used.

Don't get me wrong the 400D and D80 are great cameras. But photography has not changed in a hundred years. Its the lens. my 2 cents. Hum! whats that in euro?

Thank You,
what means L?
30D set is 1358Eur, but i expect that the lens will not be really cool:

I would prefer new over used one...but maybe i can score something on eBay

Is here some lense worth to look at for that 20D?.

I would not recommend a 17-40 f/4 with a 20D, 30D, 300D, 350D or 400D. I have one and never use it since I got the 17-55 f/2.8. The 17-55 is more expensive though.

Great pictures can be taken with any of the cameras I listed above. You can waste time trying to decide which is better, or just make a decision and start taking pictures.

I will go for that Nikon and get the Sigma 24-70mm/2,8 AF EX DG with it. Will touch it before and if there will be no turn down, its my.
Thanks to all of You for help. It is not easy decision when you counting every euro :-/

I know what you mean... I'm on a bit of a budget at the moment :(

Unfortunately, we'll need to kick you out of the forums if you buy a Nikon... (since it's the Canon Digital Photography Forum)

LOL. I'm just kidding... ;)

FM is a general photography forum, but no Nikon-specific forum that I've come across... That said, I haven't really looked since I use Canon.

To go back to your original post. Do you still have your 49 or 52 mm mount lenses? If so why don't you see if you find a store that has a used Pentax K1000, try your lenses to see if they work. You should be able to pick that up quite reasonably and start taking pictures again.

Starving artists always have a reputation for doing better work anyway.

;)
