EDIT: To consolidate, I am adding new photos from my trip to this thread. Please scroll down to see other shots as I add them.

From previous posting:

just got back today from a week-long trip at the Grand Canyon. In all it was 30+ miles in 4 days going through Indian Gardens, Monument Creek and Hermits Creek. Many photos to come, but I'm too tired to get through all of them right now so here is one that came out of the pile first. The entire trip was shot with a Canon 5D, thanks to sjafari, paired with two lenses: my 17-40L and a 24-70L which I loaned from KevNJ. Thanks big time to the both of them.

First up, Indian Garden drenched in sunlight. Our first evening down in the canyon was spent at this location, a lush tree patch located along the Bright Angel Trail.
5D, 17-40L at 23mm, f/16 for 1.3s with a Hoya CP filter.

This is a lovely image, and I like how you have managed the light, A good understated image that is very appealing.

Just curious, you shoot with a 30D, although this was taken with a 5D, and you are getting a 1DMKII, spoilt for choice I'd say :) ;)

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

thanks for the compliments guys. as for the camera the entire trip was shot with a Canon 5D, thanks to sjafari. We both bought our cameras at the same time, but he has had way more experience with SLRs and the FF camera was a necessity for him. The 30D is my first SLR and the experience and knowledge I have gained in the last 6 months is making me want the versatility and advanced performance that a 1-series camera can provide. I must say that the 5D was extremely fun to use and I was impressed by the quality, especially the outside edges which I was previously unable to see with my crop camera.

2. They Grow By the Inch.... This sign greets you as you approach the Indian Garden Campgrounds. I really liked the way they phrased this concept and it certainly helped me to remember to do my part and treat the Grand Canynon with respect.

3. Plateau Point at Sunset
After settling in at Indian Garden campground on our first day in the canyon, our group took a side-hike out to Plateau Point which brings you right up to Colorado River, but a few thousand feet above it. My buddy Eric (who you will see in a later photo) and I hung out at this spot for a while after everyone else left and watched the sun slowly creep down.

NB: this photo has only been converted to JPG and uploaded. no PP was done yet.

P.S. I apologize for the noticeable sensor dust but I didn't want to be cleaning the sensor on someone else's camera as I get scared enough doing it on my own.
