Some shots I took on Saturday around Loch Mallachie, in the Cairngorms (Scotland). Wasn't expecting such lovely weather. No wind, blue skies and just cold enough to be refreshing.

#1 - Loch Mallachie

1/20 sec @ F/10 135mm ISO 100

#2 - Waterlogged pine

1/24 sec @ f/9 95mm ISO 100

This one still needs some work to the sky, but I really like it. Will probably post it once I've reworked it.

#3 - Path to.....

1/50 sec @ f/5.6 140mm (ISO 800)

Had the 70-200mm + 2x TC on hoping for some action from red squirrels but took this as a test, not expecting to keep it, but I think the vertical lines of the trees and path work somehow.

C&C welcome.

Got more from today to work on, but too tired to process now.

It looks like the forums are having troubles with links/images... I can't see the picture. I posted some shots earlier that showed. Now they don't

Very nice Ruairidh and the first one is my favourite although it would have been even better if the foreground tree stump? had been in focus too.

Nice shots matey

Looking at them it's hard to believe we're fast approaching December ??

The 1st one is my favourite, I'd clone out the wee twigs poking into the shot in the RH bottom corner ;)

Thanks, really like it as well. Definitely a keeper:)

Agree about the stump and twigs, not even the mighty 5D has a full frame view finder . My cloning skills are not good but will give it a go though.

Wish I'd had a really long lens, as some ducks/geese were fairly active splashing about and 'fighting'/displaying. Oh well an EF 500 f/4.0 is on santa's list..;)

My idea of a perfect reflection is one with a slight ripple and you have captured a perfect reflection IMHO.

Why don`t you concentrate on one subject and try to perfect it?
I went down the same road until i realised that it got too expensive and time consuming and also distracting me from my one favorite , the landscapes.
Sold everything , much happier now.

About the pictures,i love that 1st one, although it lacks of fg,and as John said, you seem to have missfocused, the rock is not focused properly.

However, saying all that,i can see great improvement in you, wich means only one thing....whatch out boys at the next meet.;)

I bet you had a great time up there buddy.

You're right, a slight ripple adds something. I think the brain is programmed to look for movement. So if it's perfectly still, it gets confused...

Yet again Dimitri, your right. Should concentrate on one type of photography, but that expensive L glass just keeps calling my name......;)

As for the rock/roots, it was a case of not checking the corners of the frame. Didn't even notice it was there until you guys mentioned it. Maybe if I moved to the right a bit, itwould have given some FG. But I might have needed wellies, as it got very boggy

Practice make perfect.....but I'll need a LOT of practice......
