Although it looks gloriously sunny, it was actually a bit chilly for the beach, as we had temperatures in the low 70'sF. This was taken with the Singh-Ray gold'n'blue polarizer, slight tweak in PS levels for slight underexposure, unsharp mask. As you can see the gold'n'blue polarizer really saturates the colours. C&C welcome.

it looks like a good shot....but it looks a little on the red side overall. I would adjust the red or magenta levels to give it the warm golden look I think you were going for.

You just like to rub stuff like that in for us up here in the cold country!

I'm still not sure if I like that filter yet, E-A. As Turner said, it has a hint of a red tone to it. Please share more pictures if you have 'em. This one IS very rich in color, though.

Seems to me I remember you asking about filters (many posts ago). You were asking about color and received a lot of "don't use Sky or don't use UV". I'm glad you went ahead with color.

Your photo does seem to be a little on the red side but that may not be bad. Continue with color filters and let your eye be your guide. This type of photo work is more subjective than others.

Shoot some more and post for C&C but remember to let your own ideas be your guide.

By the way it was 75 here in the desert for Thanksgiving and that is cold for us.

Denny

Yes, it does look a bit too red, and I had reduced it some, so must watch out for that

Thanks for the encouragement Denny, and all of you, I have long coveted this gold'n'blue polarizer, and realize now that it is something you have to learn to use - it can be overdone so easily. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, but at the same time, the objective is to get more people not less to like your work. I'm going to have fun with this polarizer, and sure will post more for critiques. I hope in the end it will have been worth both the long wait (I hummed and haa'd over buying this for over a year) and the long dollars!! As I told Dimitri earlier, living in the Bahamas we have to pay duty on everything we import. The filter cost $190, and I was charged 42% duty on the cost and shipping when it arrived! Cameras are duty free, but not the accessories  Which is why I thought long and hard before buying this filter!

The filter does really give nicely saturated colours in the picture but i`m afraid that in this one,it has altered the whites Ann.
Judging by the clouds and the sea surf that are not as white as they should be,or is it the PP work?

Bit of everything I think Dimitri. The clouds were grey and white, and I should have worked on the magenta as suggested above. Plus the filter does change the whites somewhat too. I guess I will have to practise with this one for a while! Well, any excuse to go play with my cameras, eh? :D

Stay with the filter EA, it's one of the best, if you ever get a chance with running water, especially falls, please try it out, I think you will be surprised and pleased with the results.
Agree with the rest about the reds, and I wish you had stepped a few pace to your right (and got your feet wet), and used the surf-line as a diagonal lead-in, that stray bit of surf, bottom right looks a bit out of place.

Thanks Les - I certainly hope I can get to Jasper, Canada next summer to try it out with waterfalls. So it was worth the $300 it ended up costing me then?

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p
