I went to both Barnes and Noble and Books A Million and perused the photography sections. It seems that aside from coffee-table books (books of photographers photos) and the general boring introductory books (this is a camera. it takes pictures) there's very little available.

Has anybody found anything remotely interesting in the bookstores?

Yes.

I went to waterstones and they have the same. Just Photographers books and not even a great deal of them.

The library is the same. Very thin on the ground when it comes to books regarding photography.

Or Tractors! Ive found they didnt have even one book on tractors!!!

I've noticed the same thing, coffee table and photoshop were the two key categories most books in waterstones fell into.
Amazon is where i go for most things paper and reading related :)

Our Books a Million has a number of good books on the topic. I usually get a stack of them and go to the easy chairs to read for about an hour. There are also a lot of software and website books in the computer section. Maybe our store is larger than yours.

Yeah, but what does that have to do with the original post? This guy is asking about photorgaphy books (i.e. exposure explained), not coffee table books (books of photographs.)

Another reason to blame the internet. Not only can you buy the books online, but you can view them online as well. Much cheaper and readily available. Shame really, as I prefer to read stuff on paper than on screen.

Me too, ebooks don't cut it, and printing them usually costs more then just buying the damn book, lol.

I found the following book at Barnes & Nobel...it is an excellent book on composure.

How To Photograph Your Life, Nick Kelsh, published by: Stewart, Tabori, & Chang, 2003

Alas, no tractor books

Around here Barnes and Nobles as well as Borders has a decent selection of photography related books. B&N actually has them in two different sections one on film and one on digital. Plus all the magazines.
