Hi, I have the Canon 20D, and am looking to upgrade to the 5D. My question is will my Memory cards, batteries, and lenses work on the 5D? I have the kit lens which came with the 20D that I am going to upgrade to an L lens. As well I have the 70-200L IS lens. Thanks for your help,
Lally

the kit lens (and all other EF-S lenses) will NOT work on the 5D. the CF cards will aswell. not having a 5D im not sure about the batteries, but i believe they are the same. dont hold me to that. your 70-200 will work beautifully on it though.

Thanks for your help, I didn't think the kit lens would work, I'm upgrading it anyway.
Thanks again,
Lally

EF lenses will work fine, as will any other lenses designed for FF (Sigma DG, Tamron Di not II). EF-S, Sigma DC or Tamron Di II won't. Battery and cards are the same, but you'll want a bigger card for the 5D than for the 20D. I get around 200 shots per 4 GB card on mine.

Nice upgrade. The 5D rocks. You'll be blown away. Keep the batteries and cards. Sell the kit lens. The 5D loves high quality glass. It might be time to look at primes. Enjoy.

I have both and the only thing I would add to the above comments is that the 5D goes through batteries quicker than the 20D (although they still last a very long time compared to other cameras I have owned) so you may want to get some higher mAH aftermarket batteries; that should not be too much of an investment.
