Well... since June I've bought... an EOS30D, BG-E2 grip, 430EX flash, 17-40/4L, 70-200/4L, a new bag and some software. My economy is at the moment a bit strained (to say the least) but every time I pick up the camera it is all worth it, if I reduce the "out"-flow of cash for a while it is no problem.
I've been using analog equipment for nearly 30 years, nothing fancy, original Canon stuff but no "L":s and such. When I went digital I thought it was time to take the leap and get all the stuff I've really wanted all these years (at least to my economical limit). So, yes, sometimes I get heavy hartbeating and such but I do not regret any purchase...
Enjoy your new stuff! You will have great fun and as time goes you can extend your "collection" with something nice. Photography has as I see it one huge advantage over many other "gadget-depending" hobbies; you have to lift your a*s from the couch to practise it; this weekend I was out walking for three hours... And I felt really great when I came home!
So, have fun!
