It is not the best camera for everyone, but if you take a lot of photos of stuff that moves, it may be the best for you.

I would have thought the hordes of people using the 100-400L or the 300 F4L would have discovered this before now.

Therefore, he's talking out of his hat :)

*EDIT*

Having re-read the review, surely all he's "discovered" is the hi-sensitivity AF mode with an f2.8 lens...just like the 20/30D has but on the centre AF point only?

Not really news, is it?

yes but he goes on to claim that his 300D has hi-sensitivity all the time... which is completely false, seeing as it doesnt have it at all.

Maybe he has a 300D which is actually a 1DMK2 in a cheap dress :)

im not Geoff, but i believe that hes talking about the high sensitivity AF that is activated with f-stops 2.8 and larger. the 20D/30D has this mode in the center point only, not sure what all points on the 1D uses it

yea.. he also goes on to say his 300D is more ergonimicly friendly due to having a square bottom . sounds like a real winner to me.

It's pretty much as i said Peter.

The 20 & 30D, when fitted with an f2.8 (or better) lens, have a high-sensivity "cross" type AF sensor on the centre focus point. It is noticably more accurate than the other AF points when fitted with a suitable lens (my 70-200 or 120-300 for example)

I'm not too familiar with the 1DMK2, but i think it expands to the centre 7 points on that body, as opposed to the single point on our cameras.

I'm sure the 1D owners will correct me :)

Cheers Geoff and co :)

Can't say I have noticed anything on my 30D when using the f/2 or f/2.8 lenses. They must have to be L glass then?
