Mork, welcome to the forum. Yes, I took all of these shots locally to me, either at Blyth harbour (the kittiwakes), St Mary's Island Whitley Bay for the waders, and somewhere between those two locations for the stonechat.

I should have said as much, so apologies for that.

Are you from this part of the world?

Thanks for the welcome, yes I live near Morpeth, only just starting out and looking for inspiration on the forum, hope I can take shots like these some day.

Very nice series. Great detail on the Dunlins and great color on the last shot.

Excellent captures. Shot number five is my favorite. Love the pose and the low angle. Brilliant work. :-)

Best regards

Sindri

Thanks, Jorj and Sindri.

Mork, I'll keep an eye out for you!

;)

While I have no illusions about my abilities as a photographer, I seem to do alright.

I mention this because I've only been taking photographs for about a year and a half.

Prior to getting a Nikon D70 in June last year, I'd never held or used any sort of SLR camera - much less one with a hand-held long lens.

The point is, if I can do it, anyone can - perseverence is everything.

I like your series very much Keith;
Sharp, clear images. I like # 2,3, & 4...

The Duniln looks a lot like our Pectoral Sandpiper.

Thanks folks.

In truth, I'd have been happier if I'd managed to get a catchlight in the dunlin's eye...

Hi Ted,

I know what you mean about pec sands: they're similar enough to dunlin to cause UK birders all sorts of problems when they fetch up over here!

;)

Mind you, the only pec I've seen over here was being ID as a ruff when I got there...

Nice picture, by the way - watching out for birds of prey, I imagine?

Canny pics Keith, we will have to do a day together soon. Possibly a trip up to Kielder next year could be an option.
