Normal Community and Batavia battled last Saturday at the University of Illinois in Champaign for the class 6A championship. Congratulations to NC for winning a hard fought game. It saw just an unbelievable day for the end of November, weather was just perfect .

Sad part is that HS football is over until next year. C&C always welcome and appreciated. EXIF is embedded.

Sledhead, Great that your bud got the shot of you, it's a great one for your avatar. Does the lens on the mono pod have IS? Why the mono pod? Or is the lens to your side the IS lens? Are both lenses the 70-200 f2.8L IS? Do you still like the mono pod even with the IS? Does the IS go off while on the mono pod? I wonder if the mono pod would help when the field gets too dark for f2.8 and 3200 iso? ????????? Just picking you brain......thanks.....oh, BTW.... great football shots too !!!!

Thanks CHPhoto. The lens on the monopod is a 300 F4L IS. I use it with and without the monopod but prefer with. While the 300 is not a real heavy lens I shot 4 games that day and wanted to save the arms as much as possible. The IS is off, you don't use it when on a tripod or monopod and it doesn't really help with sports because of the fast shutter speeds you use. The IS does work though, I have hand held that lens down to 1/30th with excellent results. The other lens is a 70-200 2.8 L non IS, for what I shoot the added expense of the IS was not worth it for me.

I've been waiting for these! And they are great. I sure wish our team would have advanced to the finals so I could have been shooting on the sidelines with you. Maybe next year. :)

I am happy that 1D MarkII N can produce nice stunning shots like these.
I got 70-200 IS, so all what i need is either 300 or 400, soon i hope.

I have a sneaky feeling that it wasn't just the camera!!

Some great images there indeed, 2 and 3 especially for me.

And looking at the last picture of you - that has to be the most expensive sunshade I have ever seen!!!!

Great timing on that second picture!

Did you notice the Normal QB hop when he throws the ball? I tried to get a pic of him doing it but I was always down field. I could see him pop up to get over the line, but didn't get one of him throwing while off the ground.

Thanks for looking!

Nicely done and wonderful color. Great to have some fall daylight to shoot in. Good job.

As I run the clock for our football program I never get a chance to try photographing it. Is it as much fun as it looks? Super Job.

Don't worry, i have that gear to take one of those most expensive shots, but for sports actions i need one of those long prime rather than zoom, that what i am talking about.

To me it is not fun, but when you photographering and then looking for the results and satisfy with some then it is more than fun, unless there are sports lovers then it is another issue

I was hoping your team would have advanced, it would have been a pleasure to meet you. I'm looking forward to next year already, maybe I'll pick up a game down your way next season.

No, I didn't notice that but I did notice how low he was when he was under center. He was so low I don't think he could have seen over his lineman. Thanks again for shooting that picture. Post up some of your shots, you have some excellent shots too. Like I told you the other day, I think you have better timing than I do.

Thanks Mark. You definently get spoiled by the big light bulb in the sky.

To me it is as much fun as if I were playing.
