Has anyone had any success bargaining with B&H phone sales people? I'm shopping around for several things (tripod + head + wide angle lens).

I'm wondering if they would toss in a tripod bag for free if I bought all three together seeing as how some of their PS code tripod+head combos seem to include a bag at the same cost of buying the tripod and head separately.

Anyone have any experience with getting complimentary stuff added to their B&H order? I know I've had a lot of luck with getting free upgrades when ordering servers and desktops from Dell.

I really doubt you'll have any luck. The PS codes are also difficult to phone in, as they know who they are inteded for and you need teh actual code of the product, not just knowing psnov

Who are those codes intended for? I always thought it's a marketing tactic kind of like putting things on sale for an unknown amount of time. The b&h item codes are actually easy to find, all of them start with the code then a number like PSNOV06001.

the psnov codes are intended for professional photoshop members.
the psPPe06 codes are intended for wppi members.

as you can see, they are for working members of select organizations, not the general public, but have become widely distributed via the net. Many have had problems callin gin the orders, but since there are no hickups with web orders, most do it that way.

They also provide free 3-5 day shipping to students and select organization members.

I see.

Has anyone's phone orders been refused because of this? I'd be surprised (shocked is better word) if they refuse to fulfill an order because I'm wanting to order several PS* item #s.

Sometimes they will deal with you and sometimes they won't....just depends on who you talk to and what kind of mood the phone sales manager is in. I frequently use the ps and ppe codes....and have never had a problem using them via a phone order.

I guess I'll just give it a try then and contact their sales department.

Thanks.

call in. They had huge banners in our studios at Brooks. I don't think you can do it online. Might have to fax in a student ID, I never took advantage of it, we had Samys and Calumt right there that gave "student discounts" that were still usually above msrp  . But we needed it right then and there ususally.

When I bought my 30D, 17-40 and 70-200 and a few minor items, I fought like heck to get a free upgrade to two day air, no deal. The rep saw that when I ordered online a few minutes earlier, and then called him to add an item, I had used the PSAUG code and he said I cut it to the bone already. Oh well. At least I am adding to a newer thread now, right corey? ;)

I called BandH regarding the student free shipping and he told me it was only to certain universities. Told me if I didn't already know about it through my school that they couldnt offer it.

I'll have to ask around at school and hopefully hear some good news.
