I have been saving up for a 30D for the last 6 months or so and was just about to buy a 400D as I could afford one now, and cant wait for an SLR, when I walked into my home after being at work (it was my Birthday yesterday) and my parents jumped out and surprised me. They came up from th IOW for the night. After lots of hugs etc they gave me my present. As I opened th paper I saw the EOS logo and thought wooo they have got me a 350/400D, how cool. But no it was a 30D !!!! Could not believe it. After playing with it for a few hours I have fallen totally in love with it. What a camera and I aint even scratched the surface yet... Now I can spend the money I have saved up on an L :D GET IN THERE :)

Congrats! I've gotten mine since May and have enjoyed every shots I made with it (except maybe when 40D comes out). Consider getting the Battery Grip, it's a very nice accessory.

Cheers,

Lawrence

Congratulations!

From now on all your money will be spent on lenses. This can mean an emty wallet but also a tremendous joy for each "jewel" added to the crown.:D

Cheers guys. I think my first purcahses will be a nice bag to go with it. Going to the WRC in Wales this weekend so want to keep it dry and safe  (gonna be hard in the Welsh mountains  ) Any suggestions. I was looking at the LowPro range. Need something that will fit the camera and eventually the 400 5.6 and a few other lenses. Also think I will be getting the grip also :D

Congrats on the present! Got my 30D on the weekend :)

Another small investment you might want to make is the screen protectors you can pick up off ebay for a few quid.

Helps keep it nice n new. :)
