Need ideas for a sportrait

I've been asked by a high school sports website to shoot a picture of a two-sport athlete in the area where I live. The guy plays baseball and football and is very good at both (he started as a varsity baseball player last year although he was only a seventh grader and will start for the varsity football player next year as a ninth grader). I'm looking for some ideas. The idea that was suggested is similar to the famous Bo Jackson portrait. If you haven't seen the picture I'm talking about, Bo has on a pair of shoulder pads and is holding a baseball bat across his shoulders. I don't have much equipment. As far as lighting is concerned, I'll have to use avilable light and a 420 ex flash. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would steer clear of shooting anything that looks like a well known pic. Have you tried asking the kid himself what he wants to see? Failing that, watch him for a few games, and shoot what he's good at. We have a colt, under 18, at the rugby club that ALWAYS gets a lot of air going over for a try.
