This isn't a thread asking for advice about what to purchase next..... But I was wondering if other people here have a hard time deciding what to buy next. Small ticket items are easy to get without much thought. But currently I have a list of about 4 large ticket items, 3 lenses, and 1 camera body. I'm not going to mention what they are because I don't need advice on what order to purchase them in. I have a good range of lenses, and a decent camera body. Basically at this point I have a complete kit, and I'm having to weigh what is most important to me to have so I know what to get next. Mind you that changes every day.

I guess I should start a check list while I'm saving up for my next item. Everytime I run into a situation where I wanted to use one of the 4 items I could put a checkmark beside it. Then the one with the most checkmarks when I have the money saved up wins.

Anyone else do silly things like that to decide?

That was my thought too until my dad got his Nikon D80. I've played around with the metering modes and focusing modes, and found them very very useful. When he gets back from his vacation he's lending it to me so I can go out and about to see how well those features work for me.

That is the main reason for considering the body.

I agree, faster and sharper glass is something I do need. But I have to weigh what is more important to me. Fast/sharp glass or the added features of a higher end camera. Don't worry I'm not considering Nikon. :p Too much investment in Canon to switch now.

This is why I'm thinking of keeping track of the situations where I want one of the lenses, or when I want the body to see which situation I run into the most.
