There are only 3 you need to get started once you've found out where to put tuhe batteries and the memory card. Set the dial with the letters and pictures to the Green Box, push the power button to turn it on and the shutter to take a picture. The band around the shutter will zoom the lens in and out. Watch what the camera does, and learn from it.

I think the simplest setting on the S2 is to set it to "P" mode on the dial, ensure that you pre-focus by half pressing the shutter button and snap away. For all the buttons, my wife never takes it out of P or scenes mode and takes great photos. Me, I fiddle with settings and hope to someday catch that great shot.

Greatest super zoom out there. Keep working with it I shot flowers indoors for the first two months since I got it in January.. The P auto is nice The camera really teaches you things in Aperture priority.Auto focus is fast but not always fast enough.

I have S3 and I started by shooting a lot in "Auto" mode. It's very simple.

S2/S3 are not the simplest thing to learn on, but they do give you lots of room to grow.

I gradually started exploring other buttons and discovered some very cool things, like the Macro mode, and learned a lot about IOS and other stuff.

The S2 has been great for me and I've learned tons from it. I have taken some very worth while photographs and I upgraded from the A40 using only auto mode. Here is my favorite shot so far. After you get used to the buttons, the options are great to control the type of shot you want to get.

I usually have it on P mode, ISO manually set to 50 and exposure compensation set at -2/3. This one shows the picture being taken at ISO 50, f/4, 1/250. The weather was just beautiful which really helped and my little model is always extra helpful.
