I hadn't realized how lacking this archive was. I mainly use the 500mm f/4 IS now for wildlife, but had some good keepers with the 200-500. My technique has improved greatly since I was using it also.

Here's one:

A guy I work with has let me borrow this lens for the last week. My first impressions of it are good but I wish it had VC. I have only had a chance to take it out one day but I did capture this nice Curve Billed Thrasher with it. I'm considering buying it from him. Is $500 a good deal used for this lens?

$500 if it works is a good price for this lens. I paid $700 for mine, when I had it.

Some more. All these were shot wide open I think. Most of them cropped and processed.

Wow! Only 2 pages since 2006. This is a great light weight lens that is capable of sharp images. Here is one from my archives.

Some great pictures, tempted to buy this lens for the reach as 300 mm is no where near enough for wildlife shots and I can not afford £1000+ for the Canon super teles. Picture quality looks superb if I'm honest.

I've been using this lens a lot lately to capture the local birds. Even thought about putting out 6k for a 500 f/4. But, I'm convinced this lens has the capability of catching super sharp shots, even wide open at 500mm (6.3)
