i like the cropping on the second one compared to the first one, maybe you should run the pics through some noise reduction software, like noise ninja, you stopped the action so i would say you did a good job

I like them both. The bottom one illustrates a problem with the sport....when the wrestler gets his opponent in trouble, the prevailing wrestler often has his face towards the mat

Never been a fan of b&w, especially for sports shots (unless it's like a baseball game where they wear the turn back the clock uniforms from the 50's or something). The action looks good - stopped well, the DOF looks good in both which is most noticable in the first one of course.

I am on the other side of MJ on this one. I think sports like this look dandy in b/w. These look pretty dang good to me. My only critique would be care not to clip hands if you can in your framing \ croping. Otherwise, for a first time, the look just peachie.

Shoot tight, crop tighter.

I would have cropped both pictures more -- especially #2. With wrestling you want facial expressions, no need to have the entire bodies in the frame.

Also, shot #2 is shot from too high up -- get down on the mat. Even lay on your belly if you can.
