Taken on consecutive days at Quivira NWR. This is the winter plumage.

Both taken with EOS 30D and EF 100-400 at 400mm.

1/1600 sec, f/8.0, ISO 400. The white and black spots on the water are feathers. It was very still that day, and the feathers were not being blown toward the shore.

Excellent shots of an uncommon bird! Nice feather detail. There have been a couple nearby in NJ I should go check out. Never seen this bird in person before.

Nice shots. The first is my favorite. It has a very nice pose and the reflection works well for the comp...Nice one...
