Don't ya just hate it when you buy a new item for you camera but it's been sent away for repair. (3 weeks before getting it back), so I got no way of using it.
Don't ya just hate it when you buy a new monitor and it's take a while for Dell to get it to ya. It's due at the end of the week.
I come home each day expecting the courier person to have been and left something by the front door, even tho I know that what I wont is a few days away.

Ahhh I wont my camera back, and I wont my new screen now! Talking about being intolerance of anything that thwarts, delays, or hinders me. grrrr

Been there too. I bought a 24-105 and the AF broke within a few days.

I bought myself a 50mm 1.4 to console myself while it was away being fixed....

yes that would be worse. However my day did get a big brighter, my screen arrived. yay.

so what's wrong with your 300mm L that they need it for 3 months?

It needs to be rechipped and have the connectors/contacts replaced and that should make it hopefully work. And to think I bought this lens from a fellow Canadian to SAVE on 6% GST! hahaha now I am going to be out $400 because I didn't shop around and buy from an American that had a good lens. WORST my gut told me that this guy is in too much of a hurry that there might be something wrong with him and I ignored my gut that is right all the time :( So getting reminded of this, I sent him my final warning with his home address and phone number stating I will be charging back my credit card and filing a police report for fraud against him because he and I agreed to split the cost of repair and he has not sent a cent! Liars

that just plan bad luck. I could use worse words but that would get me kicked out. It's a shame that buying something like that has lead to bad luck on your part. I hope it turns out well for ya.

Well at least one lessoned learned. Trust your gut.

There is one worse occurrence than a delayed delivery.... (the rechip story hurts though)

When the delivery company is giving you the brush off and the 'canned answer' "It's on the truck" - and the tracking scan clearly shows it is not.

When you give them enough grief over that, they start searching for it and have no idea where it is.

Wow nice, a kilobuck lens has disappeared...... again, I pay money to these people to do this?

I emailed the seller with his address and threatened to file a fraud complaint with his Police Department and file a chargeback and instantly he sent me his share of the repair bill he agreed to pay.

I was not happy to have to do that, and wasn't impressed with his email and his closing hoping I trip and fall and break the lens and my camera because of Karma but it is something I was left with no choice to do.

I sent my sigma 100-300F4 away to be looked at (before I found out it was the camera at fault) It had taken 2 weeks for them to say yes it had arrived. In NZ this is a 2k lens, which is alot of money. I was talking to some guy and I told him who signed for it, so he just forwarded me to her. This women works in the accounts dept for crying out loud. But anyway I had to talk to the manager just to get them to say that the lens has arrived.

it is a shame that you had to resort to taking legal action just for someone to do the right thing. the person sounds like if he can get away with it I will try type.

I don't see any reason why you or anyone should. Things like this put a dammer on the item you have brought. it can also make one feel not like using it either.

Just be happy in the fact that your GST is only 6%, my GST is 12.5% :(

Don't worry. It will probably catch up with him for selling dodgy lenses and refusing to honor his word till threatened. You were merely doing what you had to do to get him to fulful his side of the bargain.

I wouldn't even have stood for the bull.. the lens would have gone RIGHT BACK.

$2K is a lot in any dollars... the Sigma 1-3/4 is not a cheap lens either..

That is quite terrible service. One of the things I like about working with Canon is that I happen to have a local service center which takes walk in clients. Drop off the gear and you get the receipts and paperwork to pick it up when they call you. Camera cleaning is now a lunchtime affair and all of $15 :D
