i don't understand why everybody gets all worked up over this guy. i mean, all he is is a retarded man with a website. the internet is full of people just like him and you can do exactly what he does. as for donating money to him, this i do have a problem with because:

1) the guy has advertisements so he is making money
2) i can think of 50 other sites off the top of my head that deserve this money (potn for example)
3) why not donate it to luminous landscape that actually provide great information?

people get worked up over it because so many people treat his stuff as fact.

I agree with your points. I've bought a few things from LL and always have enjoyed his info.

He certainly talks himself up a lot..

If that A530 is so great, why does he bother with his "$5000" camera... Only because he is a "good photographer", and can make a $150 camera take better images... That's all I'm reading throughout a couple of articles.

if people take what they read on an internet site as fact without doing more research themselves, than Ken Rockwall is not the only idiot. we all know that the net is full of "facts" and people that "know what they are talking about". just like everything else in life, it is our own job to decide what is real or not and to do the proper research. hell, we see it happen all the time even on POTN. that is why a forum is better place for information that a blog, you have other people to correct a false statement or confirm a real finding.

i believe the point everyone is making here, is that even if you managed to find some truth in all the BS and bravado, there are serious review sites and forums (like this one) that deserve the money.

I'm not an ass, Ken Rockwell is a moron, and anybody who prints that much incorrect information should have his lunch money taken away. And his keyboard.

Why the heck would you give money to a man who gets maybe 2/3 of his info correct?

Thanks for the link, Keeper! I'll have a peek thru his stuff later.

Save your time, unless you just want a chuckle.

If your prepared to give an expletive like Ken Rockwell $10 for his contribution to photography then you must be a very, very rich man.
Your donation to the knowledgeable and helpful contributors to this forum would have to be somewhere in the tens of millions of dollars, and your donation to Peka for his time and effort putting POTN together would be in the billions of dollars.
Even then you still over paid Ken.

So long and thanks for all the flash

You know I would rather give the money to http://www.luminous-landscape.com/ (external link) I found this web site when I first started and found many articles to change the way I think. granted sometimes I do forget things.

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/30seconds.shtml (external link)

&

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/learning-to-see.shtml (external link)

I have found the above two most helpful when starting out.

The only time I have ever visited Ken was when it was pointed out here, many moons ago.

So why is that statement incorrect?

hes not talking about film format, hes talking about the crop factor of the sensor. full frame sensors might be a bit of an especiality these days, but are still quite useful to people, to call them outdated (even though he owns a 5D) seems a bit silly.

FF is only FF because people call it FF, based on 35mm film format. Think about sensor size. Any size could be called FF if there was a lens to fit it and people agreed to call it that. Nothing magic about it.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Ken Rockwell is the king of the morons, and I don't really give a damn if that makes me sound like an ass or not.

And I can't believe anyone would give him money for the sheer, unadulterated crap that spews out of his mouth like a fountain.
