How long since I posted anything? Blimey, even in Africa I managed to find a water fall or two :)

The falls are quite dry until the rains reach them, in about May-June, but they are still an impresive sight. As for photos, not so easy to find unique angles due to the fact you have a walkway around the rim of the gorge. The first day was torrential rain too, so nothing I will put my name to (taking photos with a freezer bag around the camera and lens held in place by an elastic band and the lens hood...not easy!). We began on the Zambia side of the falls so didn't see much water till we were in Zimbabwe, end of the holiday, but the best light we had was the morning after the rain.

Heres the first of my many African pictures, mostly animals but a few landscapes to go with them.

5D, 17-40, ND (2 stop) + ND grad (2 stop), CPL, Tripod (my travel tripod, 'bout as much use as a chocolate chip pan!), ISO50

Beautiful, Neil. I like the framing of this as well.

Beautiful mate, very very good.
So did you use both grads either side of each other? Very clever if so!

No, I used a grad for the sky and a full ND to slow the exposure of the water. The trickiest bit of the shot was white balance, the falls and sky are in the early orange sun, the foliage is shaded - but it worked out OK.

Cheers JT and hmongstang! :)

:lol::lol::lol:,typical of you mate, just like a magnet, where there is water you can find Neil.:lol:

Anyway,i bet you had a cracking time and look fw to your other pictures, remember to leave a link here for your animal and bird shots as we might miss them.

As for the falls there,i`ve heard it from others too,you cann`t get a good position for framing, only from the air above.

Lots of trees and stuff this time of year too, so views get blocked...but when the waters are high and the trees bare you have too much mist to get your camera out anyway! Catch 22.

Can't work out why I got named the "Waterfall man" :|

The air above was way too expensive, about £60 for 15 minutes, per person! (Min 4 persons!) :|

Beautiful Neil, and the way you've framed the foreground with plain foliage just serves to emphasise the glorious central scenes.
