The only complaint I have is the mount doesn't screw down like a flash does mine moved back just a little not making a connection and I was confused for a second slid it forward agian and worked fine. No I know to check it from time to time. Equipment list:

You could use a hot shoe to off camera shoe or the PC jack on the camera to an off camera shoe. Since you are working in manual and not ETTL you can do it any number of inexpensive ways if you wanted. Robert
