Looks comfy. Nothing like a lie in the sun after a long winter.

This is precisely why I do all of my swamp work in late January or early February. All cold-blooded life forms are sluggish and easily avoided.

Where you at in Louisiana? I'm here near New Orleans.

Oh, you're in the REAL swamps. Me, I just go about the contained swamps between the subdivisions.

That is where James Lee Burke has the setting for a lot of his novels. Sounds like a really cool place.

Gotta grow up in the swamp or you can never be comfortable there. Too many things that can eat you. :)

Karen, I have a theory about Cajun cuisine. It goes like this:

"Hey, Boudreaux! You hear that?"
"Ah shore did. What think dat is over dere?"
"Doan make no diff'runce. Git ma gun and tell Marie to start da rice."

You're right, though. You have to grow up in the swamp. But we don't worry about nothing eating us. It's them that's got to worry. Especially if they smell my wife starting a roux.

Say Kook,

You take your camera out into the waters with you?

Can't say I'd feel right at home jumping into the swamp waters...but it looks like a real experience to remember...

I had an original LA Cajun neighbor (He built and sold houses) when we lived on Lake Conroe in TX...I'd make a run to the Crawfish Farm over by Dayton and Crosby, TX near the rice fields...Picked up a 80 lbs. sack of live ones and we would sit around on hot summer nights, the whole family and chow down...

I also lived in the French Quarter on Rue Esplanade...but just for the summer...

I've been meaning to drive down to the south and bring back some live crawfish sacks...they don't have any live ones here in the north east...

John

I think you can have live crawfish shipped overnight. Get your seasonings the same way.

We'll I'll be....that's what I thought once...but it didn't sink in, that it's the overnight shipping that will do it...I just thought of ordinary shipping, by ordering through a Walmart...

I'll have to go to one of those super stores and see if they'll bring some up this way...

Otherwise, I can search for the outlet that might ship them out directly...

When is the best plentiful time to order crawfish?

Thanks Kook,

I got two aluminum boats and hope to take the camera for some shore line wildlife...I find that I can float right in on certain wildlife and birds... they are less spooked than when approached on land...

March is a good time to plan on ordering crawfish...It will give me enough time to get the best deals, hopefully from a local farm, rather than through Walmart...We'll see...

That gator is a very large specimen...when you say eat or be eaten, it is very understandable...

Thanks again, for reminding me, I'll be patient till March...

I'll have to do some calling around to see who ships live crawfish (if such a thing is actually possible ;) ). I'll let you know (and my mother too, bless her soul).
