So how do you even get your RAW images into a proper conversion program. Elements 8 won't open my RAW files and IPhoto doesn't like them. I can shoot them, but I can't even get started editing them.

Assuming E8 is the same as E7, 1st download the files to you favorite folder, then open the RAW file...it will open in a RAW window for editing there, THEN once done/saved, it will open in the E8 editing window.
