Careful with 4GB unless you have a 64bit OS. I thought I would get use of close to all 4GB with regular 32 bit XP since Microsoft says 4GB is the limit, but then I found out my Asus P5B motherboard reserves 1GB for legacy 32bit PCI devices, and there is no way around it on many motherboards. So, even though I am only using a video card with 256MB ram, a max of 3GB can be mapped within the low 4GB, so I am wasting a full gig of RAM for now until I upgrade the OS.

Checked the manual for my A8N-SLI and sure enough, it does state the the system may detect less than 4 gig. due to chipset resource allocations. Hmmm.. sneaky.
