Anyone ever experience a wiggle with your BG-E2 on a 30D? Mine has a slight looseness near the battery input side that can't be cured by tightning the grip, and judging by all the trouble the 20D owners had I dare not--for fear of tearing out the screw gear.

Wish they would have given the 30D a new grip, my old BG-E1 on my Rebel was a much better design, sigh...

Luckily the camera hasn't powered down or anyting yet, but I did get a dead battery indicator where it wouldn't turn on once.

I'm sorry to hear about your grip. I've never had any problems with mine at all. Is it under warranty still?

Yes it's still under warranty, only a few weeks old.

The grip isn't too loose but sometimes when you pick up the camera you feel something shift. I thought it was slop in the lens on the mount, nope it's the grip. You only notice when you put a good bit of heft in the grip, which I do when I remove it from my bag as I store it portrait side up.

Not sure I really want to send the entire combo back to Canon for fitting if you will...

I have to tighten mind all the time, in fact, every time I pick up the camera I check to see if it is tight.:(

I thought mine did too until i realise it is just the battery door that is doing that and not the grip.

Eh, my battery grip for the 20D has a bit of flex in it.. doesn't help that it feels more hollow than the camera body in the first place but there's definitely flex and it's about as tight as it can reasonbly be put on. I think it's just not the tightest design in the world.

I do that too... just habit more than anything, even though I've only had a grip since I've had a DSLR... just paranoid... espsh with a big lens on it... or a heavy one...

However, I don't feel any flex in it.

Amazing to think they couldn't have designed this better. I'll be without a grip on my new 30D for a little while, but will eventually get it when the funds become available, as I really enjoy having it on. I will also have an A/S L-bracket attached to the grip and camera, so that should help eliminate any flex as well, so I hopefully won't have these issues.

Mine is not the door you can physically move the section of the grip that holds the door fore and aft on the camera body when the grip gets loose. Sometimes when tight.

The BG-E1 on my old 300D never became loose and felt alot less plastic-like for some reason too.

I have no idea why the thumb wheel for the screw socket isn't directly attached to the tripod screw like the Rebel line. Turning that wheel to tighten the grip I always think I'll break the thing or strip it out.

Mines on tight alright, so tight I stripped the gears. I don't feel like sending the whole camera back to Canon and I never plan on removing the grip anyway (except when I sell it approximately 6 months after the 40D comes out). A word of warning- the gears strip extremely easily. I've seen a picture of the internals- it's a metal gears that spins in PLASTIC! Of course the metal will strip the plastic when too much force is applied. It's an extremely poor design.
