I love these photos, you really need to shoot more if this is the results!

Thankyou so much Ray, how i wish i could, but work pressure these days is too much for me to go out and shoot :( My camera has been in the bag for almost 2 months now.

I like the blues and greens on the rocks in the first one

Thanks Brad! I find that rock very interesting as well, just wish i had seen it a little earlier before the sunrise and i could have had even a richer shot.

The first one is my favourite, and I like the bright colours which, at a glance make the photo seem like an abstract pattern, but then leads to the realisation that there is a lot of detail in the scene to keep your interest.

Thanks for that critique John! Glad you liked the shot so much.

Daman _ what brand of GND filters are you using?

I use a Soft Lee 3 stop GND. I just have one filter right now but the next on the list is a 2 stop GND.

Beautiful shots as always Daman. Here's hoping that your work settles down some and allows you more time for photography. Given your talent, it's a shame for your camera to sit idle. Great job on these.

Right Daman,first things first...
From what i can see, you`ve done a great PP work,i have some small things to nag though.

The first picture has lost quality in detail,i think its the compression, lovely picture and well done from every aspect but....i`m not happy with the compr.artifacts.

The second one,(and thats only a suggestion)i would keep the camera slightly higher,so the steel beams do not protrude into the water.
And one more thing....i hope your sensor is much cleaner now.

Finally....that 1st one is a cracking picture, love it,compress it again and i`d love to view it again.

Well....thats me done with nagging for tonight,  ,and btw....i`m being harsher with you because i expect more from you.;)

One more thing,it doesn`t matter if you post often, everyone looks fw to a good picture and we can wait.

Be good and take care.

Dimitri, Thankyou so much for that in detail critique. I always learn from your observations! I'm reposting the first photo, hope this turns out better. Your observation about the second pictures is fantastic! It never struck me compositionally and now that you mentioned it I totally agree with you. I'll remember to keep this in mind the next time.

About the sensor :o I guess im just lazy to clean it and it gets dirty between swapping those lenses.I do clean it before going out but the damn thing gets dirty so quickly again.

Thanks again!!

Steve i would recommend you park your self on Cadillac mountain for sunrise, be there a bit early as there are normally a lot of photographers around and youll have to hunt for a good spot. Thunderhole is also a good spot if you are interested in rocks vs sea kind of shots. There's a very nice lake on the loop of the park(i forget its name) which also provides some nice oppurtunities to shoot.

For sunset you must goto Bass Harbor lighthouse- once there take the left trail after you park- the trail leads down to the rocks on the left side of the lighthouse. To give you an idea here's a shot from my visit.
