B&H has changed the status of the subject lens to 'Not in Stock.' A couple days ago, it was listed as 'New Product.' There was an additional disclaimor saying they didn't know when it would be available.

I called to see what had changed, and they said they were now confident enough in a ship date of 2-3 weeks, that they're accempting orders from people willing to allow their credit cards to be debited.

Yeah, I ordered one. He said I will be in the first group they receive.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I ordered one. I then got scared since I don't like my 50mm 1.4 and 1.8. Then I woke up and was so relieved that it was all a dream. Phew

Best of luck to all who ordered it. Hope it works very well for you guys. :)

If I offed my 35L and 85 1.8, I could get one. I don't know if I want it that bad, though. I'll wait and see what yours is like, Tom. I've got time. :-D

Happy for you Tommy, your kitchen can surely use yet another "toaster".;)
On the FM Gear Forum couple of folks also claim their lenses are about to be shipped to them.......so the flood gate seems to be finally opening.

Here is a little procedure to help you with the receipt of your new lens aka "toaster":
(1) Do not drop the lens, unpack/camera-mount it over a bed, a couch or similar.
(2) Do not lose the lens.
(3) Shoot some newsprint from 0.5 m distance, first at f/1.2 and then at f/2.2.
(4) Post both images from (3) above. (Should you take any self-portraits with the lens, please do not post here.......too scary:( ;) )

That's great! Let us know if they ship tomorrow (so others can bug their vendors) and post some pics and impressions on Mon!:)

The guys at 17th are really cool to deal with. Almost better than the peeps at B&H, I must say. And they have always worked with me, when I paid in green. Sure beats the 8.xxx % in taxes on that kind of price.

A couple of lads in the USA claim to have gotten their lenses yesterday (FM Canon Gear Forum.) No images so far. The comments on the lens focusing group action and AF speed remain curiously tentative.
Thus far the lens seems to have successfully defeated all attempts, including those by Canon, of being described in simple mechanical terms.
