halo around the focus point why?

Hi

i have a question
i handle many canon 350D , and in many of them i saw a halo around one or 2 focusing points.

why is there this halo?
what did cause this halo?

Was it red? Assuming it's the same as a 20D that means that the focus point is in use... if you manually select the focus point it'll flash red as you're focusing so that you know which one is in use.. if you let the camera select the focus point more than one may flash red.

nope , in the dark , for example in afternoon or evening i see an halo around the red hot in the focuing points

Hmm. I've had something occasionally which you might describe as a halo when the area around the focus point lights up red when the square does but it only lasts a second and has only happened a few times.. it just seems to be a weird reflection.

I can't offer any explanation... maybe it's happened to someone else too if that's what you're talking about. A red halo?

Coule be fogging up the view finder while breathin, that will look like a halo, happens to me all the time .

yes , if u look in your focusing screen ,and turn on all your focusing points, in the dark u should see an red light halo arouns some focusing points

I've just sent my 350D to Canon for repair as my focus points are off.
Some don't light up, but others have a "smudge" or "halo" effect. I think it could possibly be affecting my images, but Canon are taking a look at it now.
Why don't you call them and get it checked out?

because it needs at last 1 month to get back it

could there be dust on the mirror right at the focus point?

had u this problem? a red light halo around the focusing points(the the focusing points turn on) ?

I've seen it usually it was because my breath was fogging up the view finder.

nope , there is always the halo , but you can see only in the dark

If you're talking of time constraints, then just ask Canon to be quick. Canon have always made deadlines for me when I've asked for it in the past.
In fact, I've told them I'm going on vacation soon and I need the camera back in a few weeks.

you are lucky , here in italy they are slow, at last 1 month

Just a thought - have you tried adjusting the dioptric adjustment knob?
