A few pictures from borrowing a friend's camera whilst on holiday recently... a 350D and the 18-55 kit lens. My first play with a digital camera, so i have a lot to learn now i have the 30D

The road down to Sa Calobra was great fun to drive:

Didn't really spent enough time walking up the gorge though. . . . thankfully we arrived early in the morning and it wasn't busy. As we were leaving, there was bus loads of folk and it was mobbed. Get there first thing in the morning if you want to get the best of it...

I call this the Oakley effect... not photoshopping, just taken by putting my sunglasses in front of the lens! Thought i'd put it in here for a laugh.

Our last day was in Cala St Vicente . . . cute little place . . and nice colours of water . . .

 I've done that before...but I called it the Revo Filter. :D

I think I like the b/w the best out of the bunch, although the last one really appeals to me as well. Is that a curve on a road that has a couple of benches there on the look out, or is that someone's driveway?

i have to agree with you . . , it took a while of messing around with the channels and curves and things to bring out the contrast. the original looks rather bleached out because it was shot towards the sun.

I like the subject of the 1st picture with the road reducing to straight line down and out of the picture ( i had to walk a fair way from the road to get it ) , but because the landscape has so much to it ( lots of bushes and rocks ) i think it looks messy and its not always a nice general background.

Composition wise the 1st and last are winners.

In the 1st one,the road is the lead in line to the frame, taking you away into the mountains.

In the last one the comp.shouts...view,view,very nice photo graphy, hope to see more of that.

PS: the picture you posted in my thread, view point above Largs? where about ?

Thanks for the comments.

The view is indeed the viewpoint above Largs at the top of Douglas Hill. You get a decent view from it, although there is often a haze which really softens down the details of Arran and the like.
