I am not a CPU expert, but does anyone know how to use connect their 1Ds AV out to work on a PC. I am able connect the 1Ds to my TV for picture display, but I am unable to connect the 1Ds to my PC to view pictures as they are snapped. Any suggestions how to do this is greatly appreciated.

BTW, I am using a Toshiba Lap Top

Use the supplied USB cable instead of the AV cable. You will be unable to use the AV cable with the PC unless you have a TV tuner card installed.

Once you have the 1Ds connected, you should be able to use whatever Canon proprietary software to shoot in a "tethered" condition (i.e. the computer can control the camera or the camera can control the camera).

That's how it works with the 350d, at least.

With the 1Ds you need to use the FireWire connection, if your laptop has one. Av out will only work if you have a multi-media PC with a video in port, and you'll have to run the TV/viewer app then.

You will need to use the firewire cable and some version of Canon software to get it to function correctly.
