does anyone have the converter to download for photoshop cs2 so that i can edit the RAW files?! i can't edit them, because it says the file type is wrong.

help?

Welcome to the wonderful (and expensive) world of photography.

On the converter thing; your new XTi came with software called DPP (digital photography pro). It's been said by many that it is as good a converter as any. Once installed on your computer, there is an update available from Canon (but the original must be installed first).

I think it's would be worthwhile to spend some time in it, because (although it isn't nearly as powerful as CS2), it is much easier to learn some basics of post processing with. I've been into photography for 44 years, digital for several, and find that Photoshop can be frustrating. For a beginner, I would think it could be overwhelming.

No point in overwhelming yourself until you are more comfortable with your camera and familiar with what it can do.

There is one rule you must follow on this forum - you must have fun.

Oh, I just about forgot - Adobe has a new program called Lightroom - you can download the beta version for free (I did last night), and you can learn a lot from it. It doesn't have all the filters and stuff of CS2, but it has a lot of easily accessible tools for manipulating colour balance, etc. It's kind of kool.

When did voluptuous become voluminous?
