I need some advice, Here is my situation:

I'm upgrading to a XTI, I have two purchasing places to choose from:

B&H: XTI w/ kit lens, 5yr mack warranty
with 2-day shipping $866

Bestbuy : XTI w/ kit lens
$871 w/ taxes.
The problem is, 1) I wanna get the service plan with the camera, but I have heard bad things about mack warranties(taking FORVER to return the camera, some claims actually being denied due to cracks/breaks that weren't caused by the user) 2) I'd like to get the camera before christmas and if i do with the bestbuy, I will not be able to. The MAIN reason is because I'm a college student and I'm not made of money. In 2 years, I doubt I will have the money to replace the shutter if it happens to fail on me.

can someone help me and tell me what I should do?:|

Simple - stick with B&H, their reputation is solid. Extended warranties are nothing more than a money-grab. It's almost Christmas, you know you want this camera, NOW.

save your money, don't bother with the mack warranty. Shoot the crap outta your rebel, the odds are with you that it'll live a long life.

Buy another lens or a flash! Not seeing much point unless you were going upto a 30D...

Stick with the XT. There's no reason to upgrade.

I agree and stick with the XT, not much reason to upgrade to it. If you do, you can try Costco. 799.99, but I think it only comes in silver (though check your local Costco), but you don't need a service plan with Costco. Anything wrong with it, just bring it back and they will exchange for a new one or refund your money. I'm sure you know someone with a membership if you don't have one.

I agree, buy it from Costco and you'll have a lifetime full cash refund return warranty.

Dude, for just a bit more, you can buy a 30D, which is a much better camera. B&H has them for $1,055 after the $100 rebate.

Otherwise, unless you really need a second body, I would stick with the 350D and invest the $870 in lenses. Which ones? How about one of these:

EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
EF 70-200mm f/4L USM
EF 135mm f/2L USM
EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

Any one of these would be a much better investment than buying a new body.

What is the question? I'd buy it from B+H even if they didn't offer the warranty.

Obsessing over $5? Git 'r done.

Another vote for Costco and they do have black in the actual stores (that's where i got mine). I don't think black is available online though. $799 for the kit and Costcos nearly unlimited money back guarantee cost you nothing. Most service plans and warranties are scams.

I bought one camera from Best Buy about 5 years ago. My first digital camera. Told the kid there exactly what I wanted to do with the camera. Came home, charged the batteries, took 20 photos and the batteries were dead. Took it back to the store, said this obviously won't do what I told you it needed to do, and what your salesman told me it would do, I'd like to return this and get something that will fit my needs.

I was told that none of their sales people had ever told me anything about the camera or what it would or would not do, and when I pointed to the guy who helped me, they told me that was impossible because he didn't work in the camera department. I was actually called a liar by their manager to my face. It wasn't like I was trying to scam them, I wanted to buy a more expensive camera.

Keeping in mind, I took this back less than 24 hours after buying it.

So, I asked if I could return it and upgrade to the next level up with Lithium batteries, and I was charged $50 for returning it.

I paid my $50, managed to raise enough hell to get kicked out the store, and went to another place and bought a more expensive camera, extra memory cards, and extra batteries.

Lesson learned for me. I'll never buy anything from Best Buy (and I've spent over $10K since then in their competitors stores).

Wow, that's pretty bad. I would never have given them $50 for the return. Like most large retailers, most returns are sent back to the mfg for a full credit of what they paid. Plus, you got a defective product, which should entitle you a full refund regardless of what the salesman said. That's some BS policy they have there.

ER, I think I'm going to go with B&H.....

One question I have, I'm putting some of the purchase on a CC + a debit card(both have my name on them), can I do it online or do I have to call and order it?

I wouldn't have either, except they refused to take the product back without removing $50 from the balance due to me.

Their loss. I've cost them a lot of cash by telling family, friends, and co-workers about the way I was treated. They could have eaten the $50 and had a loyal customer. Instead, they have lost dozens of customers with fat wallets based on my story.
