First I find out I get to do the USC-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl this Saturday. (Going to be challenge to get shots with all the media there, but challenge always makes it more fun)

Now I find out i get to do a Lakers game!! Woo!!

This weekend is going to be long. UCLA women's volleyball playoffs Friday night(if they win Saturday night+plus football earlier in the afternoon).

Now I just have to get the photos!! The challenging part. So exciting.

Well, I think i'm just going to use what I got. considering my budget is low as of now, a rental that would take 100 or more would porbably hurt me.

I have my Sigma 120-300 2.8, 70-200 2.8 IS, 16-35 2.8 that I will take with me to cover all aspects(the fans/tailgaters, off field stuff, and of course game).

I might switch the Sigma around to both bodies, so that i can get some of the extra crop factor for the Sigma.
I've spent so much already just to get what I have. Might as well figure out a way to maximize that. :)

Thanks. It'll defintely be fun. But horrid on the sidelines battling all the media.

UCLA women's volleyball team killed UAB, so they play tomorrow at 7. I got a long long day ahead of me.

Ill try. I just got my desktop fixed because my previous video card overheated. So i have yet to hook up my desktop fully.

What's funny is the biggest issue will likely be traffic if anything.

Anybody up for an "8 Clap"?

Hey Greg I was at the UAB game and those girls are looking tough. I'm thinking final four for sure.

I noticed two photogs, one with a transmitter which tripped the strobes up top, and one with a big black lens which I assume was you with your Sigma. How do you decide who gets the strobe help and how much does that improve ones pics? What was the gear your compadre was shooting with? He had a strange looking lens. Do you ever go with an 85 or 135, or just stay with the zooms? If you could post some 800x533 sized pics that would be great. What happens to all of the pics you folks shoot? Do they become Bruin property, or are they yours?

Go Bruins!!

Must have been an exciting game with UCLA taking out any national championship hopes USC had.

Suprised you didn't try to stop me. I had a POTN strap on the 1D. ;)

Yes, that was me with the 1DMKII + sigma 120-300(with monopod) and the 30D with the 16-35 with a 70-200 in its pouch.

I was late from the football game by a half hour. Pauley can do ISO 1250-1600 at 1/640-1/800. So I don't really need the primes.

Photos that are shot with a paper are co-owned. I am free to use for portfolio/website, but i cannot gain commercial profit. Technically also im not allowed to give photos away.

The other guy, was with ASUCLA photography. He used to be SI's John W. McDonough's assistant. He set up strobes and uses them for volleyball and basketball. Im friends with him and if I'm lucky i will use them soon.

He was using Nikon D2h and D2x. With a 300 2.8, maybe 400 2.8. He also rented a 200-400 f/4 for the game today. Uhh he also had a 70-200 2.8 VR

I had a blur nike shirt.

Great capture, Greg. It certainly shows the excitement at the Rose Bowl that I was hearing on AM570 at work. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you get a trip to Honolulu for the volleyball regional semis next week.

I didn't notice the strap, but even if I had I would hesitate to interupt someone who was working.

Well, I meant after the game. I actually stayed after for a while.

I don't think UCLA sends people to the in between playoffs. They might for the finals in Nebraska, but I think that is all, as far as I know. I wish i could do the finals, but I am slated to shoot a Lakers game Sunday the 17th.
